His Excellency Mr. Adel
bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir
His Excellency Mr. Adel A. Al-Jubeir, Advisor
at the Royal Court, was appointed by Custodian
of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin
Abdulaziz Ambassador to the United States on
January 29, 2007.
Mr. Al-Jubeir was born February 1, 1962 in
Riyadh Province (Majma�ah), Saudi Arabia, and
attended schools in Germany, Yemen, Lebanon, and
the U.S. He obtained his B.A in political
science and economics with highest honors (summa
cum laude) from the University of North
Texas in 1982, and his M.A. in international
relations from Georgetown University in 1984. He
was a Ph.D candidate at Georgetown University,
1984-86.
In 1987 he was appointed into the Saudi
Diplomatic Service and posted at the Royal
Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, DC, where
he served as Special Assistant to the
Ambassador, and later as Director of the Saudi
Information and Congressional Affairs Office.
In the fall of 2000 he was appointed as Foreign
Affairs Advisor in the Crown Prince�s Court.
In August 2005, Mr. Al-Jubeir was appointed by
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Advisor at
the Royal Court.
Mr. Al-Jubeir is co-Secretary of the
U.S.-Saudi Strategic Dialogue chaired by HRH
Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal and Secretary of
State Condoleezza Rice.
Mr. Al-Jubeir served in the Joint Information
Bureau in Dhahran during Operation Desert
Shield/Desert Storm in 1990-91. He was a member
of the GCC delegation to the Madrid Peace
Conference in October 1991, and a member of the
Saudi delegation to the Multilateral Arms
Control Talks in Washington, DC in 1992. In
December 1992 he was dispatched with the Saudi
Armed Forces to Somalia as part of Operation
Restore Hope. He participated in a number of the
Kingdom�s delegations to the U.N. General
Assembly, 1991-2000.
Over the past six years, Mr. Al-Jubeir has
accompanied the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques on State visits and to international
conferences.
Mr. Al-Jubeir was Visiting Diplomatic Fellow
at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York,
1994-95. He has lectured at universities and
academic institutions in the U.S. and appeared
frequently in the media. He received a number of
honors and citations, including an Honorary
Doctorate in Humane Letters from the University
of North Texas in 2006.
Mr. Al-Jubeir is fluent in English, Arabic
and German.
