Britannica.com - Only limited information available for non-subscribers. "Britannica.com editors bring you the best Web sites, leading magazines, related books, and the complete Encyclopedia Britannica." Basic and advanced searching or "explore" by topic. Encyclopedia.com - "More than 17,000 articles from The Concise Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia Third Edition (Copyright 1994) have been assembled to provide free, quick and useful information on almost any topic." The very short entries have more the feel of a dictionary than an encyclopedia.  [Click Here]

Encarta Concise Encyclopedia - Useful when concise information is sufficient. Keep in mind that this is not the Encarta Deluxe Encyclopedia which includes longer entries, many more graphics, and links to related materials.  [Click Here]

Encyclopedia Smithsonian - Features answers to frequently asked questions received by the Smithsonian Institution. Select from an A to Z list of topics. Some entries include only lists of links to other related sites or a bibliography compiled by staff at the Smithsonian. Other entries feature wonderfully detailed information such as the history of the Hope Diamond.  [Click Here]

The Farmer's Almanac -The web version of The Old Farmer's Almanac, a well-known reference book. Among the features are: long-range weather forecasts, dates and locations of solar and lunar eclipses, days of the full moon, and the rise and set times of the sun and moon.  [Click Here]

Infoplease.com - A searchable web version of the Information Please Almanac. Included among the sources offered are the Columbia Encyclopedia and a dictionary.  [Click Here]

Wikipedia: The Free Encyclopedia - "Wikipedia is a multilingual project to create a complete and accurate free content encyclopedia. We started in January 2001 and are currently working on 180425 articles in the English version."  [Accuracy of some entries have recently been questioned in media reports.] [Click Here]
