Gunmen have
killed at least six people in an attack on a
Western oil company office in the Saudi city of
Yanbu on May 1, 2004. [BBC]

- Four
gunmen struck at about 7:00 am (0400 GMT)

- The
gunmen fired from a car at a McDonald's
restaurant and a hotel, before targeting the
subsidiary of Swiss-Swedish firm ABB.

Americans, two Britons, an Australian and a

hostage was dragged naked behind the getaway

- Local
hospitals report that up to 18 people, mostly

foreign victims were employees of Lummus, an
ABB unit whose Middle Eastern offices are
located in the Saudi town of Al-Khobar.

ABB company is under contract to work for the
Saudi Yanbu Petrochemical company (YANPET),
situated nearby. The executive said operations
at the nearby YANPET facility, co-owned by the
Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC) and U.S.
Exxon Mobil were continuing as normal.
