Developments

  • Reuters reported two Saudi officers were killed in the clashes and 20 security men were wounded.  If accurate that would raise the number of people killed in the attack to seven.   Source: Reuters
  • The U.S. ambassador on May 3 urged Americans to leave Saudi Arabia.  Source: USA Today/AP
  • Prince Saud bin Abdullah, chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu urged citizens to protect foreigners helping to develop the kingdom's economy. Source: Reuters
  • A U.S. embassy spokeswoman confirmed that the body of an American victim had been "badly mutilated."  Source: USA Today/AP
  • A Western oil company source said ABB may resume work within weeks under increased security and a new team of engineers. Source: Reuters
  • Saudi troops have deployed heavy weaponry to guard foreigners' houses and offices in Yanbu.  Source: AP
